TWO ALBUMS.
I don’t just want them. I NEED THEM.
Rwake: If You Walk Before You Crawl, You Crawl Before You Die EP
NEED THIS ALBUM BECAUSE: Saw them open for Alabama Thunderpussy a few months ago, LOVED THEM, chit-chatted with the drummer, did I mention I thought they kicked ass? Hell, I’d take any of their shit at this point, it seems they have several indie releases about. I just wanna hear them again, this time without blowing a circuit breaker and causing a sad gap in tunes.
God Among Insects: World Wide Death
NEED THIS ALBUM BECAUSE: Duh, duh, DUH. Actually I’m rather pissed that I don’t have this yet. Fucking Kenth. Release date is next week, I wanna get this bitch hyped before it’s on the shelves.
I really need to finish a review or two this week, still sitting on goddamned Danzig. Tomorrow is my half day: the plan is therefore made. Maybe I’ll review this hideous Papa Roach disc while I’m at it. And if nobody else has an inkling to take on The Libertines… it’s not my type of music, but it’s in my hands.
The idea I have has been debated much among sites I’ve written for in the past. I personally think it’s in the best interest of a website that focuses on current music and news to focus their reviews on new releases and if possible getting something written and posted BEFORE it’s on the shelves. The logic there is that people are looking for an opinion before the disc is in their hands, not afterwards. But then there is the converse view which says you review whatever is interesting at the time regardless of its release date, or pick up on hidden gems that haven’t hit the spotlight. This brings in an underground/cult type following and is more of a “cherishing music” type of website. Hey, I see both sides… but then again, I usually can accomplish BOTH by snagging promos of underground-ish bands. You know, when certain band members remember to love me and send me their fucking CD to review. COUGH HACK COUGH.
